Jennifer Ejoke, popularly known as Wavy The Creator is 'Nigerian's Alien' as she describes herself and a multidisciplinary artist, who is known for her unique style and avante garde approach to art. Wavy is a Fashion designer, Creative Director and Founder of Piéce et Patch (PEP), a sustainable street wear brand based in Lagos and aimed at building a community and network of creatives who will mutually educate themselves on the importance of protecting the planet through recycling materials and transforming them to creative ideas.
The Fashion Brand was launched at Street Souk, a streetwear convention in Nigerian's mega city, Lagos on the 22nd of April, 2022 with key players of the fashion community which include but not limited to TG Omori, Nelson Nonso,Iretizee,Ashh ok . It's has since then introduced its debut collection ' Reviviscent Uns', which did not just mirror PEP's very first upcycled pieces but also gave life to the fashion brand. Bordering on fact that the fashion industry is responsible of the most waste, the core aim of the brand is to re use this waste and remodel them to new designs.
Reviviscent Uns is a combination of various elements and materials including fairly-used denims, deadstock fabric, leather, metal rings, key chains and buckles etc. Indeed Wavy made a bold statement with the collection and further proved her multifaceted nature and commitment to fashion. The 'Nigerian Alien' took us on a journey to her world, predominantly using Alté aesthetics just like her sonic soothing sound and genre as a voyage, as every single piece across the collection was diversely influenced by wavy. Some one-of-a-kind looks include matching denim jackets with pants made from a jumpsuit and leather trousers , ankle length skirts which were remodelled from thrift denims pants.
PEP in it's continuity for the sustainability of the planet using preused materials to create standout wears introduced it's sophomore collection 'Donvei Collection': Bring to Life on 16th & 17th of December 2023 at Alara Lagos. The collection features exclusive wears, looks and accessories handcrafted from one of a kind pieces.
Creatives and other figures in the Nigerian entertainment scene have been spotted rocking pieces from the collection. Lagos based afrobeats artiste Reekado Banks unapologetically rocked custom made shoes, cold melt shades as well as Ashh ok 's stunning looks with a shell bag from PEP. Other standout looks are Abuja based hip hop Psycho YP on a demin scarfs and Grammy winning Singer Tems in a custom made denim shades.
The fashion brand featured in the Lagos fashion week which took place in the entertainment capital of Africa Lagos, Nigeria on May 2023, it also made it's debut appearance at the Paris fashion week sometime in September of the same year, with a two day pop up shop.
