OWN: Welcome, Slimbeatz! It’s great to have you here. Congratulations on the release of your new song, Away. How are you feeling about it?

SLIMBEATZ: Thank you! I’m feeling really excited. Away is a song that means a lot to me because it reflects how far I want to go in life and in my career. It’s always a special feeling when you bring an idea from your subconscious into reality and then see people vibing to it.

OWN: That’s amazing. You mentioned that the rhythm for Away came to you subconsciously on a rainy Sunday. Can you walk us through the creative process of making the song?

SLIMBEATZ: Yeah, it was one of those moments where the music just found me. The rhythm came to me naturally, and I started building the beat pattern right away. Once I had the foundation, I called in my producer, Maxxie Beat, to work on it together. I wrote all the lyrics myself, crafted the melody, and then we made some creative decisions—like adding female backup singers, which really elevated the song and gave it a new dimension.

OWN: That’s really interesting! Your sound blends different genres like Afrobeat, electronic, pop, and alternative music. How would you describe the unique vibe of Away?

Slimbeatz: Away is a fusion of Afrobeat and alternative pop. I wanted to create something that every age group can connect with—whether you’re young or old, you can vibe to it. The melody is catchy, and the beat has an emotional pull that makes you feel something deeper. That’s always my goal when I create music.

OWN: You’re not just a producer; you’re also a songwriter and an artist. How does your background in music production influence your songwriting process?

Slimbeatz: Being a producer first gave me a solid understanding of how to structure a song. I think in layers—melody, rhythm, harmonies—before even writing lyrics. When I write, I already have an idea of how the song should feel sonically, so everything flows naturally. My experience in production also helps me experiment with different sounds and push creative boundaries.

OWN: That’s evident in your work. Let’s talk about your journey—starting as a bedroom producer to now collaborating with top musicians. What has that transition been like for you?

Slimbeatz: It’s been a journey of growth. I started making beats in my room, just experimenting and learning as much as I could. Over time, my sound started getting recognition, and I got opportunities to work with more artists. But I never stop learning—I’m always evolving, pushing myself creatively, and making sure my music stays authentic.

OWN: Authenticity is key. Your lyrics often touch on personal experiences and universal themes like love, loss, and self-discovery. What inspires your songwriting?

Slimbeatz: Life itself. Every song I write comes from something I’ve felt, seen, or experienced. I think music should be relatable, so I try to capture emotions that people can connect with. Whether it’s ambition, heartbreak, or just a feel-good vibe, I want my songs to speak to the soul.

OWN: That’s powerful. Looking ahead, what can we expect from Slimbeatz? Any upcoming projects or collaborations?

Slimbeatz: Definitely! I’m working on new music, and there are some exciting collaborations on the way. I’m also exploring different sounds and experimenting with new styles. My goal is to keep making music that resonates with people, so there’s a lot more to come.

OWN: We can’t wait to hear it! Lastly, what message do you have for your fans and listeners of Away?

Slimbeatz: I just want to say thank you for the love and support. Away is a song about chasing dreams and going far in life, and I hope it inspires you to keep pushing forward. Keep vibing with me, and there’s so much more coming your way!

OWN: Thanks for your time, Slimbeatz, and congratulations again on Away!

Slimbeatz: Appreciate it! Thanks for having me.
